Rip! A remix manifesto, has quality
information presented by the author in relation to copyright issues surfacing
in the world today. The author tries to balance both sides by putting everyone
in the viewing aspect of the ‘copywriter’ and the ‘copywritee’. Although the
author provides reasonable and interesting information, I believe him to be a little
bias to the topic.
The author himself is creating a film and while doing so he is using other peoples work to prove his own point. He shows clips from other videos, music, book etc. When the whole bases of the movie is to talk about people using other peoples work for creative art. The author is also a filmmaker himself and will probably continue to make more films in his future. But what if someone used his work to create their own? How would he feel? He often uses allusion referring to other artists work and always appeals to authority by having quotes and real live people talk on his film.
The author has very excellent points and tries to see both sides rather than just picking a side himself. My overall personal opinion, however, is that it’s a difficult topic he chose to argue about. I believe he’s bias being an artist himself. Rip! A Remix Manifesto is a top quality movie but proves to be a bias film.
